  • Written By -- The Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield saw a small field face the starter and another win for Written By. The ace, Written Tycoon colt never settled at all during the race but still had his opposition covered easily as they hit the line.

  • Girl Tuesday -- In the 1800m benchmark 76 the Waller trained Girl Tuesday continued her unbeaten run which now sits at four. It was Chris Waller's fourth win for the day and second for Hugh Bowman. Earlier in the day we saw a promising Redoute's Choice filly, Brazilica win her debut, in easy fashion for the pair. The other two winners for the stable were So Taken and Savacool both ridden by young Sam Weatherly. The later, a Savabeel four year old mare was an easy winner at 1550m at his third start this preparation and is a horse to follow.
  • Manuel and Commands -- This gelding produces every preparation and today in the BM84 over 1400m he out sprinted the promising stayer from the Darren Weir stable Fifty Stars. Manuel is a quality Commands gelding and could be in for a few more wins. Follow!
  • I Am Invincible and I Am A Star-- Its been another awesome campaign for I Am A Star. The mare recorded her tenth win of her career and third in a row in the group 3 Ladies Vase, over 1600m. Ben Melham controlled from the front and never really looked in danger on the daughter of I Am Invincible. In the listed Village Stakes over 1200m Brave Song was given a gem of a ride by James Mcdonald as he sliced through the field halfway down the straight for a well deserved victory. This Your Song gelding is a genuine trier and now has won five of his 13 starts.

Exceed and Excel Lonhro

The midweek meetings were at Warwick Farm,Bendigo and Strathalbyn with a treble to the Lonhro's as they took out the first two at the farm. Exceed and Excel's continue to do well for the Godolphin camp while Smart Missile and the Ambidexters continue to get winners most days. James Mcdonald was on fire with five winners yesterday and three of them were for the James Cummings operation.
  • Lonhro and Warwick Farm -- In the opening two races at the Farm we saw Lonhro and James Mcdonald to the fore. Firstly it was the 3 year old colt Roheryn who finished strongly to win in the heavy conditions for the Godolphin camp. He is the last foal of Mannington who was the daughter of Bint Marscay''s mating with Danehill and she has also produced the VRC Derby winner Benicio. The second maiden was won by Colombina, a filly by Lonhro out of the Commands mare,Mascareri. In the 1600m benchmark 76 saw the very well bred 4yo mare Aqua D'ivinia score a good win for the Matt Smith/Jason Collett combo. She is by Pierro out of that super group one winning Danehill mare, Aqua D'amore and now has 3 wins and 3 seconds from her six starts.
  • Exceed and Excels and Cummings -- The winner of the last Roosevelt, needs to be mentioned because of the enormous run the Exceed and Excels are having in Sydney and it also gave James Mcdonald five for the day. It was a benchmark 70 over 1100m and the three year old colt absolutely bolted in by six. He is out of the Canny Lad mare, Seances.
Exceed and Excel doing it both hemispheres currently sixth on the top sire list in Europe
  • Sebrings and Ambidexters -- Another breed who have been recording alot of victories lately have been the Sebrings and yesterday they recorded a double with wins to the Darren Weir trained Ringadingding at Bendigo over 1400m with young Ben Allen riding. While at the farm it was the Waller camp who have such great affinity with the breed that added the 1400m bm70 to their tally when Velocita won for James Mcdonald. The Ambidexters continue to get winners nearly every meeting in South Australia and again yesterday as the mare First Kiss by Ambidexter broke her maiden status at her third start for the Phillip Stokes camp. There could be more wins in store for her.The four year old Lonhro gelding Rock Harbour broke his maiden status at Strathalbyn for the Jolly camp over the 1350m at his third start.
  • Beauty and Smart Missile -- The Tony Mcevoy trained Beauty showed plenty of tenacity to hold off a strong challenge in the BM 70 0ver 1100m at Bendigo. The Smart Missile fillies are really making their presence felt this spring with Maid Of Heaven winning the group one Champion Stakes, last Saturday and Smart Melody who will be trying to keep her unbeaten run going in the group one Thousand Guineas this Saturday.I would not be surprised to see this filly win in Saturday grade.

The four year old is out of the Canny Lad mare, Seances. She won eased down by 3.5 lengths. Check her win out here Girl Tuesday  .  This makes it three from three for her now and she could easily be a group one mare on the rise. The Waller/Mcdonald combination also scored with the four year old Frankel entire in the BM76 over 1500m called Merovee. When the James Cummings trained Resin won her fourth race from eight starts in the second last race of the day by three lengths. It gave James a treble. Jamie Kah Gawler -- The female jockeys continue to dominate South Australian racing and on Wednesday. The queen of the show Jamie Kah recorded another treble with the first being a Fighting Sun filly from the Tony Mcevoy stable called Magic Sunset which romped in by 6 lengths in the opening maiden. Pierro and the Choice

The horses that need to be put on the follow list from yesterdays racing at Kensington and Ballarat are Amanito,Brilliant Choice and Golden Script. The Sepoy's and Choisir's continue to get winners but it was the upper echelon stallions that won the bragging rights with doubles to the Pierro's and Redoutes Choice's.
  • Pierro and Amanito -- The Pierro gelding, Amanito now has four wins from eight starts after his win third up into this preparation over 1550m. The breed have a liking for the mile trip around second or third up. He is out of the Fastnet Rock mare, Elimbari and kept the Snowden's camp good run going with Tom Berry in the saddle after She's Furline won earlier in the day. The I Am Invincible filly made it two wins this preparation when Kerrin Mcevoy put in a awesome ride, for her to get a split and hang on for victory. Tom Berry rode the Hawkes, Redoutes Choice colt, Brilliant Choice earlier in the day to record his maiden victory after leading all the way. Stakes winners are popping up all the time for Pierro with Pierata,Pinot,Levendi and Tulip and most have a Redoutes Choice connection on the mares side like Levendi or other Danehill stallions like Fastnet Rock,Flying Spur.

  • Golden Script and Written Tycoon --Another win for a Written Tycoon first up when Golden Script for the Weir/Yendal combo scored over the 1000m which looked a little short but a great ride by Dean had the filly positioned close to the speed to hold on, in a tight finish.

The Irishman has been riding in great form of late and brought the colt down the outside to record his first win after three starts. The rise in distance from 1200m to 1400m at his third start was the telling point. The Redoute's Choice mare, Sworn Evidence was another success for this combo with a great ride from John securing the victory in the 1100m BM 70. Later in the day Octobello gave the Pierro's a double over the 1550m trip when the gelding put it all together for the Price/Callow combo.
